Carlisle Regional Performing Arts Center hosts Summer Follies, a free, family-friendly event in the open spaces of downtown Carlisle on Saturday, July 10th from 10 to 3. There will be dancers, musical acts, child crafting, information sessions with Sadler Health, and lots of entertainment.  bring your lawn chair.  see the Carlisle Theatre website for complete details. 

The Discover Newport Food Truck Festival is this Saturday, July 10th from 10 to 3 on Penn Avenue.  Come to Newport this Saturday for a day of eating, shopping and exploring. 

Bosler Library hosts an exhibit on Major Jonathan Letterman thru July 26th.  Letterman was a PA native whose medical innovations saved numerous lives during the Civil War, and continue to influence our approach to trauma care today.  The library is at 158 West High Street, Carlisle.  details are at  

The Monaghan Township Fire Company hosts bingo every Tuesday night at 6:30.  The kitchen will be open.  The fire hall is at 245 West Siddonsburg Road, Newport.

The Mainsville Church of Shippensburg is looking for a piano player.  The Sunday worship service is at 10 am.  Mainsville is an independent church in the united brethren tradition.  call Pastor Don for details at 717-448-8080.

The first annual Cornhole Tournament in support of Shippensburg Wrestling is this Saturday from 10-6 at Cleversburg Community Park. It’s $40 a team to enter.  Cash payouts will be based on the number of teams. Food and Beverages will be available. Call Sarah for details at 717-658-8841.

The train exhibit at the Freight Station at Mechanicsburg Museum is now open every Saturday from noon to 3.  The museum is at 2 West Strawberry Alley. Admission is free. Go to for details.

The Cumberland County honor guard is seeking new members.  The honor guard provides military honors at funerals of local honorably-discharged veterans and participates in national holiday activities and other military and veterans events. training and uniforms are provided.  you may participate as much or as little as your time allows.  for details, call 717-240-6178.
